Peter Pan

Based on a modern classic of British literature, Walt Disney was familiar with this tale from his childhood and dreamed of one day bringing it to life as a film. Peter Pan is the symbol of eternal youth; he is the boy who never grows up. One night, he loses his shadow in the nursery of the three Darling children - Wendy, John and Michael. When he comes back to retrieve it, Wendy, sure of his existence, is recounting bedtime tales about him to her brothers. Peter Pan convinces the three to fly off to Never Land and join in the adventures of the Lost Boys - boys who were taken from their mothers and fight against the evil Captain Hook. Tinker Bell complies with a sprinkling of fairy dust to help them fly but her jealousy soon rages as the friendship between Peter and Wendy grows. The Lost Boys lead Michael and John off on an Indian hunt which leads to intrigue over the capture of the Indian Chief's daughter, Tiger Lily. There is plotting and subterfuge between Hook and Tinker Bell, and Peter and Wendy, that skims the edge of romantic inclinations. But Peter triumphantly saves Wendy's life as she is walking the gangplank of Hook's ship, after Tinker Bell has saved his.
